... for leading the worship effort at Palmyra First United Methodist Church by reaching out to the un-churched and spiritually hungry in our community, by making Disciples (Matthew 28:18-20), and by establishing the Kingdom of God in our community (Isaiah 61). We simply refer to this as Bring, Grow, Serve.
Working closely with the Lead Pastor (Preacher/Producer), the Worship Leader (Team Leader/Director) you will be responsible for all aspects of worship. These responsibilities include directing and shepherding the Worship Band and Singers and developing sensory worship experiences that support our Bring, Grow, Serve initiative through video, powerpoint, drama, dance, and other forms of worship.
The ideal Worship Leader will be a Team Builder, Visionary, and Communicator who is creative in their approach and possesses excellent administrative skills. This person must be a self starter and a team player. The goal is to grow teams of servants that succeed weekly in communicating the Love of Jesus to our church family and reach to our community. Thus, in this role, the Worship Leader must be able to Love and Work with people from every imaginable walk of life, beliefs, and experiences.
Hey and while we’re talking, we’re also looking for candidates who are able to demonstrate their musical ability by having the Worship Leader Search Team observe them lead worship in person or though video. The Worship Leader must be able to reach those in their 20’s and 30’s without alienating the Baby Boomers and WWII Generation (We’ve got everybody in our band led worship service). Weaving secular music with a Christian message is encouraged. Music should also be upbeat with slower songs invoking the Holy Spirit.
